CHAPTER 1
The first chapter begins as Deviant, the bad guy, is destroying a town in hopes of finding the fire crystal. Meanwhile, Ryu is late for the opening ceremonies at the Duel Saga tournament. When he gets there, a guard wont let him in unless he proves worthy. So he must find a chocobo egg in the forest. He goes to the forest in hopes of finding it, but all he finds is a moogle in trouble. He saves him, and he introduces himself as Kuju Mooglezuma, or Mog for short. Ryu tells him his predicament, and in exchange for saving him, Mog lets Ryu in.

CHAPTER 2
When the guard lets them in, Mog tells Ryu to wait in the lobby. When Ryu gets there, a girl is going frantic about her being late. She cant compete without a warrior, so Ryu offers to help the girl named Jessica. The intercom sounds and they go to the quad, where Mog informs them of their first battle against Team Cross's Sir Glenn. As they are setting up and are about to fight, something strange happens...
